The Dallas Cowboys hosted the Detroit Lions tonight as the regular season is winding down. Both teams have punched their respective tickets to the playoffs. The Lions were 11-4 coming into tonights game while the Cowboys boasted a 10-5 record.
Cowboys WR Ceedee Lamb had a remarkable game. He would secure the first touchdown for Dallas on a 92 yard touchdown pass from Dak Prescott. He finished the game with 13 catches for 227 yards and broke two of Michael Irvins’s single season club records from 1995.
What Cost The Lions The Game
With Detroit trailing 20-13 in the fourth quarter, Lions QB Jared Goff led his team down the field with under a minute to go in the game and no timeouts. He would connect on three passes that took them down to the red zone. Goff would then connect with Amon-Ra St. Brown for an 11 yard touchdown pass, making the score 20-19.
This is where things would take a turn.
Instead of kicking a field goal that would have tied the game and sent it to overtime, Detroit went aggressive and attempted a two-point conversion. Goff threw a pass to lineman Taylor Decker, but he was ruled to be an ineligible receiver.
After the penalty the Lions went for 2 again from the 7-yard line and were stopped on an interception that didn’t even reach the end zone, but the Cowboys were called for offsides. On a last ditch effort, Goff threw a pass to James Mitchell but it would fall incomplete and that sealed the game.
