Q&A WITH ISIAH PALMER

Q: What is your Name? Where are you from and what first got you interested in the entertainment
industry?

I’m Isiah Palmer and I live in Indianapolis, Indiana. I first became interested in the entertainment industry at a very early age as I really wanted to be an actor. I started becoming involved in musicals in my church and also acted with a local civic theater company. Singing and acting became my passion. However, acting was something that was picked up very naturally and came easy to me.

Q: Who and/or what inspires you to create?

Honestly, just living life to its fullest is the best inspiration! Life experiences truly inspire me to create…you can say that my life experiences truly push me forward in ways that may be difficult to explain. I not only have the opportunity to speak on things I’m going through at the time, but I also find that I truly enjoy the process; whether it be songwriting, rapping, singing, performing live to name a few, and am dedicated to bettering myself and my craft with every song I write or through every unbelievable opportunity I find coming my way.

THE CREATIVE PROCESS

Q: How would you describe your sound?

Hmmm, I’ve been told by others that I have a unique inner fire to create. I just let it happen. I do not try to achieve a certain sound but again just let the process happen. In doing so, I’ve also been told that I am not beholden to any single genre. Therefore, my songs may have Hip Hop, R&B, Pop, Rock, and many other influences. I do though find myself composing more melodies with rap vocals…something about that percussive feeling.

Q: What is your creative process like?

At present, I find myself creating while I am around incredibly talented and creative people, my friends, and we are in the studio just having fun.

Q: What artist(s) would you like to collaborate with?

Gerard Way, Drake, and Kanye West.

Isiah Palmer

I enjoy telling everyone to believe in themselves. Always treat people with respect. You never know who can change your life.

Isiah Palmer’s message to his fans

Q: What is a skill you have that most people don’t know about?

That’s easy…I love basketball! And, I ended up quitting both singing and acting early on in my life due to my love for basketball. I had my hopes set on joining my high school team but unfortunately that did not happen. My family moved several times during this time and I never gave up wanting to play basketball.

I finally ended up at a private, non-denominational Christian school where I made the team. We actually won a state championship and I received a basketball scholarship to play in college. While at college I was injured thus ending my basketball career.

Q: What would you be doing right now if you weren’t doing music?

If I were not making music, I would be acting and modeling.

IN CLOSING

Q: Who are some artists/people you admire and why?

I was blessed to have grown up around hit-making producer Chucky Thompson. He was my dear friend and mentor whom I worked closely with. His tremendous influence on my music can be felt to this day. His death from Covid was super hard on me, and I took it personal to be the best artist I can be.

Also, Gerard Way and My Chemical Romance as they were the first CD I ever received. Wiz Khalifa due to his military background and Kanye West because he is a different artist making generational music.

Q: What is the best advice you’ve been given?

To build and keep a healthy circle. This means finding and keeping people around who are not only positive but who really want to see you become successful on your own terms!

Q: If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

I really wish many more artists would have opportunities to be great. I feel we have outlets for artists to receive help, but we are not really giving indie artists the blueprint to be successful.

Q: What’s next for you, where would you like to see yourself in the next year?

I am incredibly blessed to be building a remarkable team and we are singularly focused on promoting my new
single entitled ADIOS. We really believe in the record. I am looking forward to performing live for larger audiences whether they be supporting slots or headlining small gigs to big festivals.

Q: What is your social media? How can people get in contact with you?

Everyone can follow me on Instagram. You can add me at @isiah.palmer
