Wellness Wednesdays: A Hot Girls Guide to Managing Stress

WELLNESS WEDNESDAYS: STRESS AWARENESS MONTH We can all agree that life can be stressful; from work, to school, to dating, to family, and the list goes on. When your body is in a state of constant stress you will experience a spike in cortisol (the stress/ fight or flight hormone) and can easily become distressed. Continuous high levels of cortisol can cause a variety of physical ailments and health issues.

We can all agree that stress is inevitable, and in honor of Stress Awareness Month, here are 5 activities that you can do to manage everyday stress.

Five Stress Relief Activities

1. Connect with Nature – Sometimes you need to disconnect, to reconnect. Taking a break, going for a walk, and getting fresh air is an easy a natural nervous system calmer. Increased levels of oxygen to the brain helps reduce stress and anxiety.

2. Yoga- Stretching releases tension in the body, and promotes physical and mental relaxation.

3. Phone a friend- Love and laughter is medicine! Meaningful connections and time spent with loved ones naturally boost serotonin and oxytocin in the body, relaxing the nervous system and decreasing cortisol levels.

4. Physical Touch- Get a massage! Whether it’s an external massage, or internal massage physical touch is a basic human necessity, and it proves very rewarding to relax your body.

5. Rest- Lack of sleep increases cortisol (stress hormone) production. Your body needs rest to reset and prepare for the next day. Without adequate sleep you’re constantly carrying the stress and exhaustion from yesterday into a new day.

Wellness Wednesdays: Don’t Stress It

Life isn’t going to always go to plan, and sometimes good things have to fall apart, so that great things can fall together. We can’t control everything, but we can control how we cope with that everything.

A relaxed body creates a relaxed mind, and a relaxed mind creates a relaxed body.

Unlocking Resilience: A Mindset Reset

When it comes to 2024, we’re already halfway through the year. This is the perfect time to, if nothing else, RESET OUR MINDSET. We always do so in January, but it’s just as essential in June. In the hustle and bustle of life, it’s easy to get caught up in setbacks and disappointments. What if, though, we could shift our perspectives? What if we could transform challenges into opportunities for growth? That’s precisely what a mindset reset allows us to do.

THE POWER OF YOUR MINDSET

Our minds are like vaults storing beliefs, fears, and dreams. When we lock into the idea that we never truly lose we open the door to resilience. Here’s how:

1. WIN OR LEARN

Instead of fearing failure, embrace it as a chance to learn. Every setback becomes a stepping stone towards your ultimate success. With that being said, whether we win or learn – we’re always progressing.

2. LOSING IS NOT AN OPTION

This really isn’t about avoiding failure – it’s about reframing the way we think of it. When you reevaluate how you use failure as a tool, it becomes a temporary state, a lesson if you will, but not a permanent label. We adapt, adjust, and come back stronger. Let’s take a glance at some practical steps to becoming stronger mentally.

TRY SELF REFLECTION

First things first, take time to assess your mindset! Are you fixed on winning at all costs or are you more willing to learn from every experience?

TRY AFFIRMATIONS

Repeat positive affirmations daily. Write them down and read them each day if you must. Remind yourself that setbacks are NOT roadblocks, but merely stepping stones.

TRY SURROUNDING YOURSELF

Connect with others who share this same mindset (or the mindset you’re aspiring to have). Their energy will reinforce your own.

In conclusion, remember to embrace the power of your mind! We aren’t just winners; we’re LEARNERS, ADAPTERS, and CREATORS! So the next time life throws a curveball, remember what I said!

We either win or learn – losing is not an option
