T-Quest Music Review: Nakiyah When you get a message from the Editor in Chief of the magazine you write for; you pay attention. He said he had an artist that he thought I would like. He piqued my interest immediately. Nothing like hearing new music especially if it’s of quality.

When I first heard Nakiyah’s song, “Don’t Wanna”, I was quite delighted. Her nice mellow soft tone caught my attention immediately. Her melody was the perfect match for the beat. What really impressed me was the story telling in the song. Even if I didn’t see the video, I could feel her emotion and can picture the scenario through the words. Rising hip-hop artist Lan Markeith is back with a bang, releasing his latest single, “Up My Fye,” through VIP Records/Empire. Hailing from Decatur, Alabama, Markeith continues to carve out a distinct sound. One that reflects his life experiences, influences and unique style.

Lan’s journey into music began back in 2007. But it wasn’t until a few years ago that he decided to pursue his passion with full force. Inspired by soulful sounds of his mother singing in church, and raw energy of his uncle’s freestyle raps, he’s been around music. Influences like Gucci Mane further fueled his ambition, driving him to develop a sound that is entirely his own.
