Q&A WITH DEADRICK

How Did You Come Up With Your Stage Name? Tell us where you’re from and what first got you interested in the entertainment industry?

My stage name is my first name. It’s a part of my branding as a songwriter/performing artist being my authentic self. Some people say Dead-Rick which has a ring to it but it’s pronounced (Deedrick) I go by either or it’s not too many people you can think of that have that name anyway so it make sense for me

Who and/or what inspires you to create?

Lil Wayne and Childish Gambino are who inspire me to create initially but through the things that I’ve experienced in this lifetime as a man is what inspire me to create so much more on deep levels that I can’t even fathom completely

How would you describe your sound?

Exciting yet chill, extremely catchy, sexy, soothing maybe euphoric. Those are the basics when I listen to my music but when I go into creating it’s all about the vibe of what I’m feeling what I’m going for based on the record and what I wanna put out.

THE CREATIVE PROCESS

What is your creative process like?

I listen to the beat or I create my chords and drums. And literally just freestyle or I just mumble words to catch a rhythm then once I got it I fill it the mumbles with words to tell a story or paint a picture.

What artist(s) would you like to collaborate with?

I’d love to collaborate with Tyler the Creator, Doja Cat, Childish Gambino, Teezo Touchdown, Russ, Fuego Base he’s dope and starting to come up) & LIL WAYNE!! I wanna work with almost every one who makes music but those guys I definitely want to have a record with.

If you could open a show for any artist who would it be?

I’d open for Doja Cat, Tyler the Creator, Brent Faiyaz & maybe Yachty if he went on tour. It’ll make sense due to the sound I have.

Deadrick

Be your best authentic self. Don’t quit on your goals and keep going. Don’t take ‘no’ for an answer.

Deadrick’s message to his supporters

SHIFTING GEARS

What is the most useless talent you have?

In my opinion, I don’t think any talent is useless. I’d say I’m good at fighting, taekwondo boxing etc…

What would you be doing right now if you weren’t doing music?

Still serving in the United States Army and becoming a personal trainer on the side. I would teach courses and provide a nutrition guide based on human anatomy and body types.

Who are some artists you admire and why?

I admire the Wayne’s and the Donald Glovers and the Tyler the Creators and Brent Faiyaz’s.  They’re their most authentic selves when it comes to the branding and engaging with their audience. That’s how I wanna be because it shows they actually care for their audience like I do mine. I try my best to engage with every single last one of them ESPECIALLY when it comes to live performances.

What is the best advice you’ve been given?

Be Relentless. Sometimes you have to have an unbelievably delusional amount of confidence to get where you are trying to go. After hearing those words those, besides my kids that’s been the only thing that’s keeping me going and wanting to conquer more. Because I deserve it. So I’m going to go after what I desire.

IN CONCLUSION

If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

Honestly I love the game. It ain’t fair but that’s what makes it so much more sweeter. It keeps me on my toes.  What I would change is knowledge that’s gatekept so artists can be more successful and get their business together.  Let’s stop the capitalistic system we have.  Other than that, it’s not that bad. Especially when you know how to navigate through.

Deadrick- Move

You dropped your latest release earlier this year. Tell us about it.

“Move” although it’s a song it’s actually apart of a playlist I put together. It tells a story about this incident when I hooked up with this super bad Georgia Peach. It didn’t work out like I thought it would and I feel like it didn’t work out well because I was so pushy and moving things to fast and not letting it be smooth and taking it slow.

I mean, yeah the sex was good but as a man you gotta bring more than just good sex to the table establish those high qualities. As a man if you trying to keep a woman that wants to be kept. But the whole story is  just going through the motion of meeting somebody. Y’all have a really good time and the situation dies out like majority of relationships you see today. “Hook-Up” culture don’t get me wrong some stuff can last for years but in the end everything dies out even if y’all are still in contact with another  And “Move” is the second chapter of it.  1st song is “Smoov Feelin” the beginning stage of meeting a women

2nd song “Move” the middle stage where you’re in the honey phase

3rd song “Should’ve Took it Slow” the end where everything dies off and you experience your perspective of grief.

What’s next for you? Where would you like to see yourself in the next year?

Build so much leverage that many wanna work with me on terms that equally benefit us both as businesses.  I have the resources now  I just gotta keep pressing this button and grow.

TRIGGERRUN

Q&A WITH TRIGGERRUN

Please take time to introduce yourself and tell us where you’re from?

Hailing from Atlanta by way of Albany (the 229), TRIGGERRUN is composed of the following active members: K. Washington | A. K. Knegil, Herbert Bowens Jr. | H3theArtist & Nathaniel Whitfield | Syncere Akil.

What first got you interested in the entertainment industry?

TRIGGERRUN was inspired at an early age by their parents who introduced us to R&B Soul who encouraged us to pursue our creative talents which led to playing in the orchestra/band in elementary school and formulating one of the most illest dance crews ever to bless the Ruth Harris Performing Art Center at Monroe High School (Albany) a.k.a “the house that TRIGGERRUN built”.

Their love and passion for music would inspire them to share their gift of music on the world stage.

Who and/or what inspires you to create?

The inspiration comes from the pure love of the musical art form and the ability to create an arrangement of sound thus turning it into a beautiful masterpiece.

THE CREATIVE PROCESS

How would you describe your sound?

An eclectic mix of NY East Coast, Miami-bass meets the ATL Dirty South fusion.

What is your creative process like?

Our creative process is impulsive. Inspiration is often birthed at the most inopportune time therefore we have come to stay prepared to seize the moment. This often includes recording ideas in audio note format to capture initial thoughts, progressions or arrangements for later development.

If you could open a show for any artist who would it be?

As of now, Jay-Z and/or Beyonce due to their international influence, which speaks volume about their influence and popularity in the music industry, as we look to expand our talents beyond the U. S. borders.

What artist(s) would you like to collaborate with?

It doesn’t matter! Whoever is open to collaborate. Collaboration is always good on any level whether TRUE or NEW school artistry.

TRIGGERRUN

SHIFTING GEARS

What is one message you would give to your supporters?

Music is for the young at heart so set the narrative, dare to be different & stay on your grind.

What hidden talent(s) do you have?

H3 is more of a renaissance brother who possesses many talents such as acting, singing, piano, guitar and drawing

AK’s talent includes singing, saxophonist, graphic arts and videography.

Syncere Akil possesses talents in videography, graphic arts and clothing brand apparel creation.

What would you be doing right now, if you weren’t doing music?

As the athlete of the group, A. K. would be involved in youth sports mentoring and giving back to the youth teaching life skills through the game of sports.

H3 would continue pursuing his dream of theater and acting while focusing on his new love of charcoal drawing.

Syncere would be continuing to build his real-estate empire flipping houses while at the same time working on his clothing brand marketing for himself and the group.

Who are some artists you admire and why?

Rakim is one of the cornerstones that the foundation of hip-hop was built on. His style of MC and lyricism still reigns supreme until this day as one of the illest to ever bless the mic.

IN CONCULSION

What is the best advice you’ve been given?

Stay humble, be prepared and when opportunity presents go for it!

If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

The hierarchy and structure of the business from the top executives that have exploited artists over the years through bad business ethics and contract disputes.

What’s next for you? Where would you like to see yourself next year?

Next is award nomination on this new independent platform in hopes of transcending and elevating another level of achievement in this game.

You dropped your latest release ‘2 Da Flo’. Tell us about it.

‘2 Da Flo’ is another eclectic party jam sponsored by the “Feel Good Music” vibe that TRIGGERRUN is an ambassador.  It’s a simple call and response song to get the people off the wall and onto the dance floor.

Also, working on the video so be on the look out for the video to drop around June of this year.

Any departing words for our viewers/subscribers?
