Hi my beautiful faces! I had the pleasure of enjoying a very detailed conversation with my guy FOREIGN630. If that name sounds familiar, he was in attendance at the Fleet DJs’ Music Conference in Jacksonville this summer. Others know him as one of the hottest artist coming from Little Rock, AR. This was a great opportunity for me to have a personal conversation with an artist that had no problem networking and promoting his brand. Foreign630 is a respectable gentleman and new father who is about his business. Allow me to share some gems from our almost two hour chatting session.

FOREIGN630’s HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

Our conversation began after he took a break from preparing his advertising billboards. I could sense his feelings of accomplishment over the phone. Soon, his hometown will get a chance to see his name high up in the air. The one thing I loved about our conversation was his ability to be upfront and honest with me.

He is no stranger to the music industry. Would you believe that he received his first deal at the age of 17? The funny part is he was just like most young artist now; happy to receive the bag, but didn’t read the fine print. After a couple of years in the game he knew he had to take a couple of steps back. At the age of 19, Foreign630 walked away from being a rapper and at 21, he came back a business man with a no nonsense personality.

FOREIGN630’S RESOLVE

Despite bad deals and broken promises, Foreign630 used his new skills to come out on top. It was impressive to hear him speak about the business aspect of the industry. Because of the people in his corner, his music can be heard on various radio stations. His song “Yeah Yeah” is booming right now on all platforms.

If you follow Foreign630 you saw he recently closed a deal with Universal. Later this month they will start working on the video to “Been Through it All.” The location has been set for New York. One thing I learned from him is that he’s appreciative and humble. Several times he mentioned names like, Ya Ya, Mel B, and Yung Cassius. These along with others played a major part in his career. As the self funded owner of Already Paid Enterprise, the best is yet to come!

IN CLOSING

After a good heart-to-heart, it’s apparent that Foreign630 takes his position in the rap game serious. Serving time in prison also changed his outlook on life. My favorite quote of his is “you have to keep the right people around you.” In the music world an entourage can make or break you. Some may think it’s important to have people around you.

During our conversation, I learned it’s about quality and not quantity. He also explained how important it is to own your work and know the ins and outs of the business. Never let someone tell you anything, ask questions and be prepared to invest in YOU. We closed the evening discussing our favorite drinks. To my surprise he has a taste for Boosie Juice, Rose’ and Belaire. As for this Butterfly, a nice glass of Stella Rosa Black was in order.

I had a dream of me prospering with what I am doing…it’s music…I know I am on to something…
Key to tha City

At first glance you are not sure what to think of Key. He is quiet, very polite and not your typical artist. Most of the time he is wearing shades and a smile. I remember meeting him at the Fleet DJs Conference in Jacksonville this summer. He was sitting alone but I could tell he was taking in everything around him. Who knew a smart comment regarding my android phone would be the start of a great conversation. Despite jokes about how his iPhone was better than my Samsung, Key quickly gained my attention.

As a Memphis native with Mississippi roots, this now California artist, was working on a master plan. With his grandfather exposing him to the music industry at an early age, Key knew he had big shoes to fill. From there he went on to explain how stepping away from the game for a minute to get his thoughts and business together, and that he did. The conversation was very in depth because he is a young man that believes in his skills and don’t mind sharing his story.

Now, here we are in September, only a few months after the conference. I watched this quiet, dedicated, and humble artist take his rightful place in the music world. As he kept his fans updated on Instagram(key_tothacity) about what he was up to, my anticipation grew. Based off previous conversation it was only a matter of time when a single would drop. To my surprise one day I saw his new music was out. After a game of phone tag the date was set. The thought of the Cocktails and Conversations w/ Key to tha City had me excited.

I caught up with him after a fun filled day at Chuck E Cheese with his daughter for her pre birthday celebration. Cheering and an announcer could be heard in the background. Guess who was watching the Raider’s game? From my understanding the game was very intense. Raiders vs Ravens went into overtime. When he is not watching the Oakland Raiders, he enjoy supporting the Falcons and Auburn Tigers. After the game ended he was working on his Cognac and I a glass of wine.

Apparently my iPhone friend had been very busy. His new single “Get it Jumpin” is now on Spotify. He has a show coming up on Sept 25th in Cali. Key decided to focus on his music career full time. Giving more attention to his family and passion, is most important. As tough and stressful as things can be he remains humble and vow to have fun. Key plans to release the video his next single BEFORE the music drop. As the conversation came to an end he promised to make sure his fans receive the best of KEY TO THA CITY.

Get It Jumpin – Key to tha City

My take on Key to tha City is simple, he is going places. True enough he has lived in various cities but he is good at adapting while staying true to his skills. “Get it Jumpin” showcase the Memphis sound for sure. My favorite thing about him is, he always get to know artist before they work together. This is very important to him because he takes his work seriously. In the eyes of Key to tha City “having that personal relationship will help understand the music by the artist.”

Haters are good at what they do…NOW CONTINUE TO BE YOU!

What’s happening my beautiful faces?! It’s Monday honey so let’s get this good MOTIVATION going. As much as we would like for haters to go jump in the nearest river, they are here to stay. Truth is, some of them thrive off of the foolishness and drama they cause. Now if you think you are the only one with haters, think again. Today we will look at my girl Lizzo and how she deals with the madness.

Gotta take a deep breath, time to focus on you.
Lizzo – Good as Hell

Since the moment she stepped on the scene as a bold and confident artist, Lizzo has dealt with her fair share of haters. No matter how good her music is or how fly her fit is…someone somewhere is in the shadows waiting to say something negative. Sounds familiar? Honey, when it comes to being the center of cruel jokes and horrible memes, my girl had to endure it all. From jokes about her size, songs and even her attire. Now this is where the lesson comes in…She admitted it hurt a little, but each time she came back with something stronger. I know you are not at celebrity status and it’s hard to avoid the situations, but you are apart of my beautiful faces family. With that being said, together we will come out on top.

Lizzo makes music to empower the underdog, the disliked and less ordinary. You are doing something special and that’s why you have haters spreading rumors and gossip about you. I need you to regroup and focus on you. Don’t let the comments, jokes, memes and other forms of ignorance get you down. Instead use it as fuel. Not that you have something to prove, but use it as motivation, baby. Turn that negative energy into something positive. Never grant a hater the satisfaction of watching you fall or fret…you have more power than you think.

Now, my loves, go out into the world with your head held high and confidence on ten. Please know that despite with others say, do or think of you…YOU ARE WONDERFULLY MADE. Not everyone will like you and that’s ok. Mark my word, most people that give you a hard time, really desire to be. All of the good you are doing, we see it and we need it…DON’T STOP, BELIEVE IN YOU, BECAUSE I KNOW YOU GOT THIS…..and remember to LIVE LIKE ITS YOUR LAST!

Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

Happy Monday my Beautiful Faces. It is my prayer that all is well with you and your family. September reminds us of a lot of changes and new beginnings. The year is slowly coming to an end. Holidays are on the way and for most, the kiddos have returned to school. All of these bring us joy and warm memories, but there are some people among us that see it differently. What if I told you people and organizations are using this month to bring awareness to SUICIDE? What if I told you on average 130 Americans die by suicide daily? It’s a tough thought to process, I know. Well this is why many across the world do all they can to bring awareness and prevention to light.

General Statistics (USA)

Suicide is the 10^th leading cause of death in the US for all ages. (CDC)
Every day, approximately 130 Americans die by suicide. (CDC)
There is one death by suicide in the US every 11 minutes. (CDC)
Depression affects 20-25% of Americans ages 18+ in a given year. (CDC)
An estimated 285,000 each year become suicide survivors (AAS).
There is one suicide for every estimated 25 suicide attempts. (CDC)

Let me be the first to tell you there is hope my loves. I know it’s hard for us to talk about problems and situations that are going on in our life but there are people who can help you sort things out. If you are reading this article I need you to know, TODAY, YOU GOT THIS. Your girl, KimdaSSB, had her moments as well. Yes suicide may seem like the easiest thing to do, I thought the same thing, but it’s not. With all that I have in me I encourage you to seek help. Get some positive music in your life and accept assistance. Take things one day at a time and don’t forget to LIVE LIKE ITS OUR LAST

My Beautiful Faces if you lost someone to Suicide, my thoughts are with you as well. I’m sure you have questions and not sure what to do. That is an universal feeling. One thing we all can do is educate others on the importance of the warning signs and how we can prevent the inevitable. The first thing we must do is kill the stereotypes. This issue sees no color, age, economical status nor geological location…THIS IS AN EVERYBODY’S PROBLEM. Take a couple of minutes and post tips, flyers, your story, hotline numbers, etc. on all of your social media platforms. Together we can make a difference.
