For over two decades, the fleet dj’s has grown from a small crew to a proficient coalition with over 700 members and counting. since 2001, THE WORLDWIDE FLEET DJ’s has changed the lives of both its members and the entertainment industry they have thrived in.

These are the members. These are Their Stories. THESE ARE “THE FLEET FILES”

Name: DJ Swag 100

FLeet DJ Since: 2022

Location: PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA

Region: NORTHEAST REGION/PHILADELPHIA Fleet DJ’s

DJ Swag 100

DJ SWAG 100 is not only a multitalented member of The Worldwide Fleet DJs, but a cultivator of Hip-Hop culture. Since becoming a member of Fleet, Swag has kept his foot on the gas working to not only spotlight emerging artists but to rewrite the genre’s narrative. When I asked Swag what was the moment that convinced him to become a DJ, he spoke on pivotal moments in time. ” My journey into DJing began with major events in key venues in Philadelphia, where I also launched my digital radio station, (SWAG 100 FM) now known as 100.1 FM The Plug. A pivotal moment came when I met DJ Calvin from New Orleans Fleet, who introduced me to the Philadelphia chapter.”

Lee McIntosh made his decision to join Fleet based on his visions for his personal career. “I chose to join because I recognized it as a professional community that could shape and expand my network.” In doing so, Swag now runs both radio stations and podcast networks as a media communications specialist. Upon becoming a member, Swag spoke on the connections within the camp. “Once introduced to the Philly chapter I connected with DJ No Phrillz & DJ Pooh Gees who are familiar faces in the Philadelphia music scene.”

In addition to working the ones and twos, Swag also is nice with the pen. He works as a journalist for Straight Official Magazine, Floss Magazine & The Fleet Mag. Throughout his journey he spoke on several trends. “I’ve observed a concerning trend in mainstream Hip-Hop media that sensationalizes artists’ lifestyles and personal conflicts.” He continued, “This relentless scrutiny pushes artists into risky situations, leading to conflicts and legal troubles. I recognized the need for a shift to cleaner business practices and media responsibility which inspired me to establish my business.”

DJ Swag 100

For anyone looking to succeed in the industry, it’s crucial to understand the music business and network with the right people. Consistency is key.

DJ Swag 100 has made several moves in the coalition. I asked him to speak on some of his accomplishments. “Since joining Fleet I’ve become a national moderator and the manager of the Fleet Artists division. I was honored to receive the award for Fleet DJs Mixtape of the Year in 2023. Swag has also received nominations at this year’s Fleet DJs Music Conference for Rookie of the Year as well as Hustler of the Year.

When I asked Swag where he draws inspiration from to be successful he spoke about family. “My inspiration comes from my older cousin, James Holmes, known as Big Chef. He had a studio with a full 12” Technics DJ setup, and I often got in trouble for experimenting with his equipment. He was the one who rocked block parties in our neighborhood, and his passion for music deeply inspired me.”

Swag puts serious hours into his craft. While often spending 20-30 hours a week discovering new music and artists, he spoke on the overall experiences. “My best experience as a DJ has been conducting interviews and listening sessions with both indie and major artists. The highlight was interviewing Macy Gray—an experience I’ll cherish forever!”

DJ Swag 100

DJ Swag 100 currently has a project titled “Philly Drill” that is his 18th mixtape to date. Available on mixtapes.com and TopMixtapes.com he talked about his dedication to the mixtape scene. “I’m constantly working on new mixtapes, as my mixtape hosting is in high demand. In January 2025, several mixtapes hosted by me will drop, including “Brim Game 6,” featuring a lineup of NYC artists.”

As the Mixtape DJ of the Year I asked him who’s currently in his playlist. The variety of artists he mentioned was refreshing to hear. “Currently, I’m enjoying tracks from Skrilla, BigxThaPlug, Chow Lee, and a few other rising stars in the Sexy drill scene, as well as with Tyler the Creator. While I appreciate all genres, these artists currently dominate my playlist.

Every DJ has a story behind their moniker. When I asked him about the origin of his name he said “My DJ name comes from my LLC, SWAG 100. “Swag” represents character and how you carry yourself, while “100” signifies authenticity. This name serves as a constant reminder to stay true to myself.”

DJ Swag 100

My journey is rooted in a profound love for Hip-Hop culture and a commitment to changing its narrative.

DJ Swag 100 and I officially crossed paths back in 2020 during the Fleet DJs Music Conference in Jacksonville, Florida. It was dope to finally link up with one of my most productive members of the team. Producing most of our flyers and graphics for the publication he also conducted interviews for artists performing during the conference. One of my favorites is his one-on-one with Trece7ev which you can check out down below.

DJ Swag 100

I asked Swag about the best piece of advice he could give to aspiring artists & DJ’s. He hinted on consistency and knowledge saying, “For anyone looking to succeed in the industry, it’s crucial to understand the music business and network with the right people. Consistency is key—there will be setbacks and mistakes, but each experience helps you grow thicker skin. This entertainment business isn’t for everyone, but persistence often outweighs talent.”

I gave Swag the floor for his shout outs to close our interview. “I want to give a shoutout to some amazing DJs in the Fleet family, including DJ P Money NYC, DJ Baby G, and DJ Justin Tyme (Gray Gang), who have supported me since the beginning of my career with Fleet DJs. I also want to thank DJ Heavyweight Rasheed for his guidance in the radio business and DJ Gojabean for being a great brother and constant source of good vibes. It’s a privilege to work with so many legends and game-changers in Fleet DJs!

SOMag Presents The Fleet Files With Fleet DJs: DJ WillyBangz | @djwillybangz

For over two decades, the fleet dj’s has grown from a small crew to a proficient coalition with over 700 members and counting. since 2001, THE WORLDWIDE FLEET DJ’s has changed the lives of both its members and the entertainment industry they have thrived in.

These are the members. These are Their Stories. THESE ARE “THE FLEET FILES”

Name: DJ WillyBangz

FLeet DJ Since: 2021

Location: New York City, New York

Region: NORTHEAST REGION/CONNECTICUT Fleet DJ’s

DJ WillyBangz

WHO IS DJ WILLYBANGZ?

DJ WillyBangz is genetically linked to being a DJ. Even before joining the Worldwide Fleet DJs, he was told at a young age this was his destiny. When I asked what drove him to become a DJ he confirmed, “I decided to become a DJ when my mom told me that I had it in my blood. I asked her what makes her say that and she told me that my father was a DJ, as well as my uncle.”

William Ubiles vested time into his craft, spending 10 hours a day perfecting his style. From transitioning records, remixing songs and mastering scratches that he wanted to learn how to do. Even conquering the art of what is called beat juggling in the DJ culture, he wanted to be the total package and that he is! WillyBangz would soon become known as DJ WillyBangz The Crowd Controller.

I asked Willy about the decision to join the Fleet DJs and he spoke on the coalition’s reputation. “I decided to become a Fleet DJ after hearing a lot of great things about the coalition from a long time friend, (Blackstorm) who is heavily involved in the music industry as well. He knew the skills that I possess and recommended that I become a Fleet DJ. After I did my home work on the coalition I said to myself this is something that I should do.”

DJ WillyBangz

At 13 my mom bought me a video tape. It was a DMC DJ Battle. After seeing that and becoming fascinated with the art form, I knew this is what I wanted to do in life.

DJ Willybangz draws inspiration from witnessing legendary DJs receive acclaim and acknowledgment. From greats like Kid Capri, Red Alert & Funkmaster Flex they have given him confirmation that he belongs. “Looking at their accomplishments, rewards and achievements gives me the inspiration I need to keep going. It lets me know that theirs room for me in this business & industry cause I got a lot going on.”

I asked Willy about the ups and downs of being a DJ. He spoke highly on being the best option saying, “When I do a party my goal is to not only satisfy my crowd to full capacity, but also satisfy whoever booked me as well. If it drives them to the point where they tip for my performance on top of my regular pay, this lets me know I’ve done my job & then some.”

As a member of Fleet, Willy dons several hats. He is co-owner, Program Director, & Social Media Manager of Vibing 102.3 MMR. He is responsible for 2 radio shows. The Back To The Future Radio Show which airs Thursday nights at 7pm EST. In addition, he runs Thee Almighty Mix Show which airs Saturday nights at 8pm EST on Strongside Radio which is located on the Fleet Radio Network app.

Every DJ has significance about how they got their stage name. Willy spoke on how he came up with his moniker. “I got my name by always being good at whatever I put my mind to. When I was a kid I wanted to draw, so I drew until I became good at it. It’s like when you say that someone “rocks” but I’m using the word “bangz” instead. So when I became great at DJ’ing, that is where I came up with WillyBangz and I just put the DJ in front.”

When he’s not listening to national artists like Jay-Z and The Notorious B.I.G, Willy is listening to his own music. When I asked him what can we expect from him moving forward, he gave us plenty to look forward to. “I currently have 3 mixtapes out under my Hip-Hop Havoc Mixtape Series Volume 1 & 2. They can be found on MyMixtapes.com, MixtapeFactory.com & Hip Hop Havoc. Volume 3 can be found on LiveMixtapes.com as well as MyMixtapes.com.”

When I asked Willy about any jewels of wisdom he would give to aspiring DJs he spoke on visualization. “Look at the industry as if it were a puzzle, vision the bigger picture in your head and start to put the pieces in place. Even the ones that don’t work at the moment matter, put them on the side cause you will eventually need them to complete the goal at the end of the day.

He continued, “It will take time but keep going because before you know it your mental creative picture will come full circle and the project of your future in this industry will become a beautiful portrait / painting that you will be able to frame surrounded by your accolades, never give up.”

DJ WillyBangz

It’s like a way of saying that something or somebody “rocks” but I’m using the word “bangz” instead. DJ WillyBangz, feel me.

DJ WillyBangz

I had the pleasure of meeting DJ WillyBangz at this year’s Fleet DJs Music Conference for the first time. His passion and drive make him a valuable member of the coalition.

I gave Willy the floor for shout outs and acknowledgement. “Let me give a super big shout out to my beautiful wife Elizabeth whom with out her support non of this would be possible. To my mom Janet & my second mom / aunt Ivette for all of their support throughout the years. My brother DJ Chill who is my business partner together we run Vibing 102.3 MMR (Moore Music Radio).

“Shout out to DJ Stone who is another of my business associates who helps us to keep the station running smoothly, Shout out to all my supporters out their who help me to push my brand, and a super big shout out to all of the artist who rock with me heavy who see my vision and are eager to bring it to life. I’d like to give all praises to the most high and invite everyone who took the time to read this to tune into my radio shows.”

“Last but most definitely not least you the reader who found my story interesting enough to read this fleet file long enough to get to this point, much love & big respect. Oh and don’t forget to catch me at a club, bar, or lounge near you, I’m outside you hearrrd!!! Salute.

SOMag Presents The Fleet Files With Fleet DJs: DJ Starline | @djstarline.edm

For over two decades, the fleet dj’s has grown from a small crew to a proficient coalition with over 500 members and counting. since 2001, THE WORLDWIDE FLEET DJ’s has changed the lives of both its members and the entertainment industry they have thrived in.

These are the members. These are Their Stories. THESE ARE “THE FLEET FILES”

DJ Starline

Name: DJ STARLINE

FLeet DJ Since: 2007

Location: MILFORD, CONNECTICUT

Region: NORTHEAST REGION/CONNECTICUT Fleet DJ’s

WHO IS DJ STARLINE?

DJ STARLINE is an accomplished member of the Worldwide Fleet DJ’s. Since joining the coalition in 2007, she’s been acknowledged and awarded for her dedication. From her three nominations at the 2022 Fleet DJs Awards to securing the 2023 Fleet DJ Raheem MVP Award, Starline has put in the work!

I asked her when was the moment that convinced her that she wanted to be a DJ. “When I saw videos of DJ AM (R.I.P.) and A-Trak putting on a show like no other, it inspired me to do the same. Their superhuman talents, charisma and energy convinced me (an introvert at the time) that I as a DJ can grow personally and professionally while developing new skillsets and talents.”

Affectionally known as Nina, Starline was vested in becoming a DJ four years prior to joining Fleet. Seeking to know the art of DJ’ing she attended and graduated from the Scratch DJ Academy in 2006. When I asked her what drove her to join Fleet, she spoke on a conversation while working with another Fleet DJ.

“I was working on a mixtape with a Vegas DJ, King Nade. He was telling me about this new DJ crew he joined and he was going on about how awesome it was to be part of a team like this. He asked me to join, specifically saying that there were no females on the team. We got on AIM. Messenger if you could remember that (laughs). Nade, Klassik the CEO, and his partner chopped it up. Then we had a few phone calls shortly after. Each time I spoke with them I could hear the passion in their voices as they explained their vision for the organization.”

She added, “Their drive to put the DJ in the forefront, especially newer DJs, really resonated with me.”

DJ Starline

My mission is to make the world dance while forgetting about the drama. Let’s go!

DJ Starline
DJ Starline
DJ Starline

While originally spinning Hip-Hop, Starline made a choice that would alter the course of her journey. In 2010 she would transition to electronic dance music. “I eventually made the move to electronic dance music (EDM) as the 2010s approached and to put it simple, I never looked back! I don’t regret the decision at all, just when I made that pivotal move it was only a matter of time before the actual EDM boom occurred between 2011-2013.

Currently she is the Assistant Manager of the EDM division of Fleet. In addition, Starline is the lead organizer of the Fleet DJ Raid Trains on Twitch. She remarked on her accomplishments early into her joining Fleet. “I joined the Fleet DJs and continued working while getting many opportunities to do projects with other DJ’s and artists. I provided monthly mix shows to popular stations of the time, such as, Sprint/Nextel Radio, Nokia Radio, Move Radio, Focus on the DJ and WWACN.”

DJ Starline

When I decided to DJ the first person I told was my sister. She was so excited she jumped on her laptop and started creating a logo for me. She ended up with a star and an electric line going through it. So we came up with Starline

DJ Starline on how she got her name

DJ Starline is more than just a DJ. Outside of making the world dance she works in the medical field in the Orthopedic and Pain Management specialties. She added, “I’m also a web and graphics designer and video editor.” I asked her about some of the takeaways of being a DJ. She spoke on the experience that she’s given her clients.

“Giving memorable moments to happy clients and party goers during their special occasions as well as giving my loyal listeners, on digital platforms, a in-real-life inspired experience right at home or while they’re out n about. This always means the world to me!” She added, “business relationships I’ve developed during my journey as a DJ. I’ve crossed paths with other talented DJs and music industry professionals that have open doors for me in the business world and beyond!”

When she’s not listening to hit songs like Get Lower by Steve Aoki and Lil Jon, Starline finds inspiration by simply being a watcher of the game. “From watching the world’s best DJs, I learn by observing their mixing styles and stage presence. I also gain inspiration from the Fleet DJs that I work with every day!”

As we came to the end of our interview, I asked Starline if she had any words of wisdom for aspiring DJs. “Anyone trying to make a name in any industry, especially the music industry, must embrace the concept of networking. It’s simple, just put yourself out there and network like crazy! Always be open to meeting new people and creating relationships, more importantly you have to MAINTAIN those relationships, follow-up regularly!”

I gave her the floor to give her roses. “Big shout out to Straight Official Magazine & Radio, TenthLetterMedia,  FLEET DJS, THE FLEET EDM DJs, K102 DIGITAL, TASTE/DASH RADIO, CHICAGO 77.3, FLEET EDM RADIO, CTVIBE101, THE FLEET RAID TRAIN DJs, COMMUTER TRAX, URBAN $OUND, DAPLAYLISTER, EVERY ONE I WORK WITH ON A DAILY BASIS, AND OF COURSE THE STRAIGHT OFFICIAL READERS, MY LOYAL LISTENERS, FOLLOWERS AND SUPPORTERS — THERE WOULD BE NOTHING FOR ME TO DO WITHOUT YOUR LOVE AND SUPPORT, I’M TRULY GRATEFUL FOR EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU GUYS!

SOMag Presents The Fleet Files With Fleet DJs: Thee Inkredible DJ Klasik | @djklasik504

DJ Klasik

Name: THEE INKREDIBLE DJ KLASIK

FLeet DJ Since: 2021

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana

Region: SOUTH REGION/Louisiana Fleet DJ’s

WHO IS THEE INKREDIBLE DJ KLASIK?

THEE INKREDIBLE DJ KLASIK is one of the newest members of The Worldwide Fleet DJs. Even before he joined the coalition in 2021, the concept of music and entertainment was instilled in him from a young age. Having a father who was also a DJ was a huge plus, and since the age of five he’s been connected to the culture.

I asked him what made him decide that this was the path you needed to take. He replied, “It’s been my passion since my teenage years. My love of music and rocking the crowd is what convinced me to become a DJ.” It’s why he is also known as “Your Neighborhood Vybe Pusha.”

Becoming a member of Fleet came by chance for Klasik. Rayshad Rogers was a student at JSU who would do weekly house parties as a hobby. He took his shot saying, “I saw that one of my friends from JSU was a member. I did my research on it and made the best decision in my DJ career so far.”

DJ Klasik

I’m Your Neighborhood Vybe Pusha.

THEE INKREDIBLE DJ KLASIK

GAME-CHANGING DECISION

COVID-19 was life-changing for all of us and in DJ Klasik’s case, the hobby would grow into something more. “I realized that life was extremely short and it was time to get into DJing. Get back into what I love.” It was then he founded 3Kingz Entertainment, LLC which was named after his mother’s three sons.

Klasik would join the Louisiana chapter of Fleet in 2021 and make moves quickly. After attending the annual Fleet DJs Music Conference last year, he would secure the Tre Boogie Rookie of the Year award. Soon after, he would be promoted to State Manager of the Louisiana chapter of Fleet!

Through Gumbeaux Radio on the Fleet Radio Network he rocks the airwaves with his blend of Hip-Hop and R&B. When I asked him how he finds inspiration to DJ, he spoke on his passion and partners in crime. “Besides my love of music there are a few DJs that inspire me. DJ Lil Walt, DJ P-Money and DJ Ill Nino to name a few.”

DJ Klasik

Consistency in key. Don’t give up when told ‘no’ because this industry is something you have to consistently work at.

THEE INKREDIBLE DJ KLASIK

IN CONCLUSION

I had to ask Klasik how he came up with his name. Most of the Fleet DJ’s have a unique story behind their name. “When I was in high school I was in an R&B group. Each of us had nicknames and mine was Klasik (Classic). I grew up in my grandparents house listening to classic Hip-Hop and R&B.”

He continued, “Now my name is THEE INKREDIBLE DJ KLASIK with the inkredible part for my favorite comic book character (The Incredible Hulk). I am THEE NEIGHBORHOOD VYBE PUSHA. That’s how they call the dope man (pusher man) and I provide the vybe for my audience.”

DJ Klasik

You can follow DJ Klasik on all social media platforms at @djklasik504. Tune in to the Fleet Radio Network to catch him on Wednesdays at 10pm EST and Sundays at 11pm EST on Gumbeaux Radio by downloading the Fleet DJ app.

I gave him the floor to shout out who he wanted. “Shout out to my wife Quinnel Rogers. Thank you for being my ongoing support system. To my team at Louisiana Fleet DJs, 3Kingz Entertainment LLC & my mama for birthing this greatness!”

Kim Da SSB

Name: KIM DA SSB

FLeet DJ Since: 2021

Location: MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE

Region: SOUTH REGION/TENNESSEE Fleet DJ’s

WHO IS KIM DA SSB?

KIM DA SSB is not only a member of the Worldwide Fleet DJ’s, but also an example of how one person’s faith and works can elevate them to unbelievable heights. I asked about her desire to become a DJ and if she had influences. “Honestly, I was scared to death to play music for my show or events alone (laughs). DJ Stylz pushed me out of my comfort zone and told me I could do it. Once I learned the basics and how I could make people happy, I was hooked!”

Kim has established herself amongst her male counterparts as part of the Fleet DJ’s. Currently the Assistant State Manager of Tennessee Fleet, she’s also a full time mom who finds time to be an entrepreneur and motivational speaker. Her passion for engaging people in conversation can also been seen in the digital pages of Straight Official Magazine via her Cocktails & Conversation column.

Entertaining and creating a vibe gives her great pleasure. Kim has acted as a host, moderator and MC for various events around the Memphis area. Her advice to anyone pursuing their dreams was downright spiritual. “First allow God to show you a path and a purpose. If this industry is truly for you, no one will be able to stand in your way!”

Kim Da SSB

I consider myself a Musical Bartender.

Kim Da SSB on why she became a DJ

KIM’S MORE THAN JUST A DJ

Also known as the Soulful Social Butterfly, Kim Shropshire also counts success in being an advocate for those who are unable to. Outside of being a personality, she is the founder of I’m A.L.I.V.E. (Accepting Live Is Very Essential). A business that houses the various ways she tries to reach the masses by way of motivational speaking, merchandise, and entertainment.

Kim is a fighter for those who are victims of domestic violence and bullying. At one point in her life, she has danced with those two things. As a survivor, she strives to show the importance of self love and your worth in hopes that others will find the courage to leave those situations.

Serving the community and motivating others to LIVE is a passion she takes pride in. Kim mentors a group of young girls ages 7-17 monthly. The goal is to expose them to as many opportunities as possible and show them how to love themselves.

Kim Da SSB

My name is Kim Da SSB. Originally it was the Soulful Social Butterfly. That was difficult for people, men especially to say. After hearing three people call me SSB I knew I had to make a change.

Kim on how she came up with her name

WHAT’S KIM DA SSB UP TO?

When she isn’t being a advocate and a DJ, Kim has her hands on a number of different projects. “I am serving as a host to a virtual event for the youth who would like to get into the music business.” Over the summer, Kim put together the Party With a Purpose event where she launched her brand of customized t-shirts and merchandise.

I asked Kim about her experiences as a DJ. One positive time came from her being in the right place at the right time. “The best experience was filling in for a DJ friend at my favorite Karaoke spot. He got sick at the last minute and I had my laptop and hard drive with me.” Her one negative experience came from technology. “The worst experience is during my radio show. I had some technical difficulties and I had to act fast, while broadcasting live.”

IN CLOSING

Kim Da SSB with Jay Mill
Kim Da SSB & Chief Editor Jay Mill at the 11th Annual Fleet DJ

Kim is an amazing addition to both the Fleet DJS & Straight Official Magazine. Her spirit and energy help to liven any event where she is hosting. We even had the privilege of flying in together to attend the 11th Annual Fleet DJ Music Conference where she and the ladies of 2Flix3 did an amazing job at the Meet and Greet event.

I gave Kim the floor to shout out anyone she wanted. “I would love to say thank you a million times to everyone who has played a part in this new chapter of my life. Friends, family, Fleet, artist, and fans you know who you are. Please understand the love I have for you all runs deep. I thank you for listening to me brainstorm ideas, supporting my events and showering me with love. It is my prayer that the transparency I provide will give you the encouragement you need to follow your dreams.”

SOMAG PRESENTS “FLEET FILES” W/ FLEET DJS: @DJ_JAZZYBEATZ

For over two decades, the fleet dj’s has grown from a small crew to a proficient coalition with over 500 members and counting. since 2001, THE WORLDWIDE FLEET DJ’s has changed the lives of both its members and the entertainment industry they have thrived in.

These are the members. These are Their Stories. THESE ARE “THE FLEET FILES”

Name: DJ JazzyBeatz

FLeet DJ Since: ????

Location: Richmond, Virginia

Region: East Coast/Virginia Fleet DJ’s

WHO IS DJ JAZZY BEATZ?

She calls herself the #1 female DJ in the East Coast. DJ JazzyBeatz is from Richmond VA but established herself in Sanford FL. She was raised in the same city Trayvon Martin was killed in, but she promises to tell that story another time. She became a DJ because of the passion held for music and dancing. According to Jazzy, it all started with Breakdancing and All style dancing many years ago. Her DJ name came from her B Girl Name, “B Girl Jazzybeatz”, her breakdance coach gave her the name. Okay, but did you ever know she used to be a dancer? Deemed as America’s hypewoman and record breaker, we shouldn’t even be surprised. We’re so glad to have Jazzy a part of the Fleet DJ’s team because her titles really hold weight – she comes through strong ever time! So we know how she got started, but what brought her to where she is now?

YOUR NATIONWIDE HYPEWOMAN

We asked DJ Jazzybeatz about what music she’s playing right now and she gave us some fabulous answers! First she listed Remy Ma indisputably, because of how she goes off in such a classy way. Next, she listed one of my favorites for Louisville, KY, Marzz because she’s signed to Timbaland who hails out of Virginia. I love Marzz so I couldn’t agree more. Last but not least, YG; he gets the people going and brings a fun energy to any party. Jazz loves having a good time with her people, but please avoid the bad odors and shootouts away from ANY event! The people that inspire her are within her family, there’s not really one particular person. We cannot cite them as being one not the best family but her talents come from pieces of all them especially her mother and father. Family – we thank you for her!

LOOKING FORWARD FOR DJ JAZZYBEATZ

Jazz does a lot in the industry. She helps artists with development, marketing, promotion, managing, as well as working in music studios as a director/content creator.  What does JazzyBeatz say to upcoming game players? Keep going, no matter what happens in your life, negative or positive, KEEP GOING & stay consistent. She gives thanks to God; without his mercy and grace Jazzy would not be here because “he rose me from dead not once but 3 times due to heart disease” so Shoutout to JESUS! Also, FEMALES CAN DO IT TO!!! This industry is hard for women because of other females or male perception of SheDjs! It’s all love over here; DJ Jazzy Beatz will greet every person, supporter and friends with OPEN ARMS LOVE so we have to show her some love too!

SOMag Presents “The Fleet Files” With Fleet DJ’s: DJ XXL | @dejayxxl

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is photo_2021-07-15_19-12-41.jpg

Name: DJ XXL

FLeet DJ Since: 2012

Location: Los Angeles, California

Region: WEst region/California Fleet DJ’s

WHO IS DJ XXL?

DJ XXL has a tenure in both Hip-Hop and the entertainment industry spanning over a decade. I asked XXL what made him get into the genre. “I got into Hip-Hop as a backup dancer with Ice-T & The Syndicate. The crew (2 Much Bass) was one of the biggest dance crews in LA. Taking names and battling was the mindset. We KILLED crews on the dance floor!” He recollected on a moment that was big. “My biggest battle was with Brand X, held in Huntington Park, California in East L.A. Ice-T and The Syndicate were judges of the event, which is how we got our way into being linked with the Syndicate. We were featured in the Original Gangsta video with black hoodies and Rottweilers.”

Joseph Rudd is a assertive and driven individual. He has touched a number of the essential building blocks of Hip-Hop in his journey to becoming a Fleet DJ. “I also am a member of 4 of LA’s largest graph crews (FBI, Far Beyond Imagination, OSB One Step Beyond, & SNM, So No Mercy). It was during the graph crews time when I first became an MC. My rap name is Juggala Vein.”

DJ XXL said his decision to become a DJ was inevitable. “I am already a B-Boy, rapper and graffiti artist. I already embodied the other elements of Hip-Hop so DJ was the last one I needed to capitalize on.” As a member of Fleet, he is the main moderator for Fleet DJ Conference Calls, designing the national protocol for conference calls. He has been on the move for Fleet in ten years. “I was originally on WCF (West Coast Fleet) DJ’s Team for 1 year before moving to the Midwest Fleet DJ’s. There I represented and built the Iowa division. I also built the Chicago team to expedite the success of Iowa. Then I became the State Manager for the Chicago Fleet DJ’s. Built it up to 10 DJ’s before I gave the team to new management and migrated back west to become manager of the WCF.”

Be different. Don’t follow trends because originality is your number one commitment.

DJ XXL’s advice to upcoming artists

MORE THAN A DJ

Our conversation shifted to moves outside of being a DJ. XXL is also a core actor with the Screen Actors Guild (SAG). “I’ve been in 10 motion pictures. I was in The Fan as a cop in the final scene with Wesley as one of the cops that shot DeNiro’s character.” Another film that XXL was in was a skateboard movie called Grind in which you can see him clear as day down below.

XXL is an A&R as well as a manager for independent artists. I asked him what can we expect from him this year. “I’m currently the road manager for West Coast artist Marc Handsome. Be on the lookout for a new music video with Mark featuring Jim Jones called “If I Like It” dropping soon!” XXL wears several hats as he is a producer, radio personality and media correspondent for Straight Official Magazine.

With every DJ having a story behind how they got their name, I had to know how he came up with his. “Basically I used to try to figure out what my name would be. My personality is larger than life. I put it together as XL initially, but added the extra L to personify that, to be larger than life.” I asked him what would his biggest takeaway would be in being a member of Fleet. “After 30 years I’m still a DJ. It’s my ability to break new music & network with the industries past legends as well as upcoming artists that has remained the constant.”

Quincy Jones didn’t have his first hit until he was 50. Don’t give up.

IN CLOSING

As a member of Fleet, I didn’t officially meet XXL until we crossed paths at the 10th annual Fleet DJ Music Conference last year. Once we met it was all gas and no brakes! He is a vital member of the coalition as well as an official brother from another. I look forward to seeing what will do next as a member of Straight Official Magazine!

I gave XXL the floor to close out our interview and he had nothing but admiration for the Fleet DJ’s. “Thanks to The Worldwide Fleet DJ’s for embracing my energy and inner talents and giving me the opportunities and platforms to elevate in the entertainment industry. Shouts to Ice-T, Cypress Hill, Mellow Man Ace, My DJ, DJ Earl-E, and the whole Transparent Crew. First but not last, to my mom and dad for genetically giving me the tools to do what I do best.”

SOMag Presents “The Fleet Files” With Fleet DJ’s: DJ Chase Flow

For over two decades, the fleet dj’s has grown from a small crew to a proficient coalition with over 500 members and counting. since 2001, THE WORLDWIDE FLEET DJ’s has changed the lives of both its members and the entertainment industry they have thrived in.

THESE are the members. HERE are their Stories. WELCOME TO “THE FLEET FILES”!

Name:

DJ chase flow

FLeet DJ Since:

2021

Region:

california/west coast fleet

Check out DJ Chase Flow on Fleet Radio Network’s MIXTAPE HEAT RADIO every Saturday at 9 PM EST

GET TO KNOW FLOW

DJ CHASE FLOW represents California Fleet as he should! The beginning of his story, though, started in Philly. Let’s go back to his story at age 13.

I would always rap with my older brother Shizz Bradley and his crew Infinity in Cyphas; one of the members of the group would always call me young Flizowwwww.”

Chase Flow on how he got his name

As he got older, the “Flizowwww” just seemed to stick beside his government name “Chase”. He developed an alter ego “Big Bad Wolf” from a single off of his EP Go Chase Flow. In his interview, he explains how Wolf is Flow backwards and how the 2 monikers presented the very dynamic contrasts as a Hip Hop artist and Dj. Did you know he is also a producer and composer? Most Fleet DJs are multi-talented like that. His goal these days is to entertain, uplift, and inspire his audiences across the world.

CHASE FLOW HAD TO GROW

Now, 2017 Chase found himself doing a radio interview with Dj Paulymack on 105.5 UFM and kept referring to Chase as a DJ, however, he wasn’t a DJ at the time so when they cut to commercial, he explained “Man, I’m not a Dj,” but PaulyMack explained how the people in the general public acknowledge DJs and Emcees more than record producers, so he ran with it for the interview.

They later went to the club for an artist showcase; PaulyMack shouted him out as a DJ yet again and a flood of girls tried to get into the VIP section to see him. For Chase, it was a mix between the factor of being the man at the party and having an appreciation for DJs being a record producer and the love for DJs making mash up remixes of artist acapellas over his beats.

AND GROW…

A year later in Philly the transition between DJs was happening and his music went out while the next DJ was setting up, so everyone looked to Chase and folks started leaving. Long story short, the promoter got upset and didn’t work again. Lesson learned to never come to a gig assuming they have everything there! On the bright side, he did a party in California where no one was really interested in dancing and as he got a little worried, the blend of different genres changed the energy of the room & the party got crazy.

By the end of the set he booked multiple parties! Mr. Flows said it himself, “At the end of the day you as the DJ controls your environment.” Watching other Dj sets online, listening to them on SoundCloud and of course seeing the live show really inspired The CHASE FLOW INTERNATIONAL Brand that is displayed currently.

I listen to way too many various genres and artists. I’m feeling… All of Griselda Gang, Kanye West, Daddy Yankee, El Alfa, Ricky Kej, J-Balvin, Lyric Jones, Nas, Jay-Z, Ricky Ruckus, Anne Marie… Tierra Whack, Madeon, Calvin Harris, B.Smith, Major Lazer, NCT Dream, Tems, Polo & Pan… Ludwig Goransson, Biggie Smalls, Wu Tang Clan, Devin Morrison, Robert Glasper, The Time Clockers and of course the greatest of them all Chase Flow.

SOMag Presents “The Fleet Files” With Fleet DJ’s: DJ Laz Vagez | @lazvagez416

They don’t call it the WORLDWIDE Fleet DJ’s for no reason. In this file, we head across the U.S. border to Ontario, Canada where we meet none other than artist, producer, engineer, DJ Laz Vagez. It’s safe to say that he is a jack of all trades, and we can’t be mad at that because most of the illustrious Fleet members are. Vagez became a member in 2009 and returned in 2021. So, who is DJ Laz Vagez and how dare he be from Canada with a name like Laz Vagez? Let’s jump right into it!

WHY LAZ VAGEZ STANDS OUT

He came up with his name years ago when he was a radio host for Champ Radio at a local university when he was alongside Hollywood and M Dot (RIP). It was only fitting, but he started his career long before that. At the age 12, he started rapping under the moniker D’Sinatra. By 14 years old, he dedicated his life’s work of engineering to help the hood come up. I guess that’s why you can rarely go to state where he doesn’t know anyone. Fun fact: did you know that Laz Vagez was a credited engineer on a Smiley/Drake collab? He’s really making a name for himself out here.

STRAIGHT OFFICIAL, FORREAL

Vagez is a real asset to us here in Fleet and on the Straight Official staff being that he is one of the program directors on Straight Official Radio. Since he’s so involved in the radio scene, I asked him what the top 3 songs are that he listens to all the time. His playlist right now includes $500 ounces x Westside Gunn, ‘97 Hov x Benny the Butcher, CTG x D’Sinatra & Rock Nitty. He says that becoming a DJ allowed him to learn to read crowds and recognize what music meshes well with other music and to love and respect other genres. He has a lot of people looking up to him so even we think he’s going hard; he’s already thinking of ways to go harder.

Artists, stay consistent. Find a producer and continue to work with that person, that’s how you create saucy hits. Producers, be willing to create new sounds and network. Put out your work anywhere and everywhere. Make beat kits and drum kits and COLLAB! We can collab with anyone all over the world

Laz Vagez’s advice to upcoming industry members

FUTURE FOR VAGEZ

What’s next for the multi-talented DJ? He’s currently in the process of perfecting his production craft in order to build a project like the Metro Boomin‘ x 21 Savage collab. I hear he’s coming out with an online course for engineers as well. I’m so grateful to connect with such a powerhouse. He’s not a person you can be around and remain stagnant. I’m excited to see what he achieves in the next decade.
