In 2021, West Coast rapper Jasey Cordeta took off with his track “Family Business” that features his brothers Swiggle Mandela and Timmi HendriXXX, and New York Dipset legend Jim Jones. The song took off on streaming platforms and gathered attention from major publications across the country. He picked up momentum by teaming up with a handful of artists/ producers from cities he has lived in; Portland, Los Angeles and Las Vegas to create a mega G Mix/ Trap Mix for the streets — “FBTM.” Cordeta recently signed a distribution deal with Capo’s Vamp Life Records and Empire, Jasey has been burning up the air waves worldwide via Coast2Coast Radio, Spotify and all major streaming platforms. DJ Trap-A-Holics of Brick Squad hosted the FBTM trap cypher that is sure to have you playing it back to catch all the witty punchlines, metaphors and street language spoken on this record.

We expect Cordeta to gain even more steam in 2022, as he recently went to New York with his brothers to film the video for “Family Business” with Jim Jones. Cordeta’s lyrics are littered with wordplay and metaphors, and his bars definitely stand out in a time where not everyone in hip hop is as focused on high level bars. We look forward to the Family Business video in January 2022, and seeing where Cordeta and his brothers go from here. | IG: @JaseyCordeta

Rising artist Rah Dolla just released a hot new EP titled “Last of a Dying Breed”. This is someone who does something very few people do anymore, normally something illegal, real gangsters, king of lines (graffiti kings), trap stars, etc. When the Brooklyn based artist was growing up he used to listen to various artists, and would recite the words to their song as if he wrote it himself. Ppl who listened or liked these artists would ask him to spit (rap their songs). Rah Dolla says, “one day in school mr Richards told the class if they kept quiet and finish the assignment on time that he’d allow him to spit (rap their songs). The kids happily obliged. It was from that moment he decided to create his own sound”. Rah Dolla now has his own record label called Capital P Records and does everything independently. Check out his dope new EP now! | IG: @RahDolla21

$hadow – “Foreshadow”

As a maker of catchy hip-hop music, artist $hadow delves into the realities of his life and other intriguing things to curate his songs that hit at one instance. The talented musician follows no rules to dictate his authority on the genre and effortlessly comes up with new styles and sounds to solidify his reputation. By quickly redirecting things to the positive shade, the artist has tried his hands at experimentation, and it’s beyond refreshing to hear the rapper trying something so off-center. Make sure you check out his new album “Foreshadow” now! | IG: @shadow.tw

SIAHH – “Red Trippin”

SIAHH was born on October 1st 1994 to Mr and Mrs Thomas. SIAHH spent his years as child living in Brooklyn, NY. There he was raised in an apartment development by the name of Glenwood Houses. These apartments were known as “the projects. There SIAHH was exposed to issues that the average kid living in a “normal home” didn’t go through. Struggles such as living in poverty, close friends being victims of gang violence, etc. Had put him in the mindset to succeed. He tried to escape and go the route of a college basketball star but those dreams quickly halted.

As this happened a new fire was roaring he began singing, drawing, rapping, writing, producing. SIAHH seen this as opportunity to spark the world musically and to give an insight that only who would’ve actually experienced it can relay to the masses. SIAHH musical sound is a mixup of rap, Afro beat, dancehall to pop, rock and much more.

SIAHH has dropped a couple singles, but his latest and most successful song is “Red Trippin.” He has three surprise albums. One will drop before the year ends titled “The book of siahh.” Another titled The World is In (Y)²our Hands which will drop 2/2/22. The third is titled SIAHH MOLAN AND THAT WILL DROP in January 1/1/22. He will drop anticipated songs and albums that will open the eyes of the public to a whole different level. Stay tuned. | IG: @SiahhDifferent

Representing Base Level Music is an independent artist from Northern Va, he’s been releasing singles all 2021 with his most current release titled “Conviction”. She attended elite private schools in Washington, D.C., and developed a passion for writing, journalism, and performing arts. Delmar James Is The One | @officialdelmarjames

Single cover “I’m The One”

Soul is a feeling, not a color.”

@officialdelmarjames

Louisville native and Pop/RNB singer DELMAR JAMES released a new single entitled “I’m The One” on all major platforms this year. He has made it clear that this record is very personal and it certainly shows in his bold confession of lyrics. We had the pleasure of speaking with Delmar and his phenomenal producer, Peter Monk, over on Straight Official Radio and we had a ball! But let’s just say, I think Delmar started to feel the heat while he was in the hot seat.

I asked him just what exactly the song was about and he totally flipped the script and asked me what it meant to me, personally. The only response I could have was to laugh – way to plead the fifth, my guy! I had to ask though, because this pop song very much gave me “confessions of a player” vibes so I needed some details. Regardless, sis (the ex) obviously caught onto his ways and hit him with, “I’m good love, enjoy!” I guess he don’t wanna be a player no more.

Via @officialdelmarjames on Instagram

Nevertheless, thanks for being a great inspiration for this single, girl! Big ups to Delmar James for believing in himself and taking that bold chance to pursue his dreams even when people blatantly suggested his failure. If you take nothing else from his story, understand that it is unreasonable to give up in year one. Delmar is in year 5 (at least) and he is really taking big strides to make it happen for himself. I’ve watched him go from a little to a lot in almost half a decade. Go follow him on Instagram @officialdelmarjames and stream “I’m The One” on all platforms!

Straight Official Sit Downs: S. Deniro

S. Deniro is the featured artist for the Straight Official Sit Down this week. The East Coast rapper chopped it up with us on a wide range of topics. Check out our one-on-one with him down below!

Q&A WITH S. DENIRO

What is your Name? Where are you from and what interested you in the entertainment industry?
entertainment industry?

I go by S. Deniro! I’m from The Bronx, NY. The entertainment industry was glamorized to me by Michael Jackson. I became more in-tune with the Hip Hop culture.

Who and/or what inspires you to create?

Michael Jackson’s work is what definitely inspired me. But once I heard Wu-Tang, Mobb Deep, Onyx, Naughty By Nature, and The Lox, that’s all I wanted to hear.

How would you describe your sound?

Well some would say I have that giddy east coast New York style. I’d say my style is made from a variety of styles. I like to stay outside of the box. At any given day I can give you giddy, catchy, mellow, party, and even something for the ladies. For the most part, my style is high-octane

CREATIVE PROCESS

It doesn’t really take much. Once I hear a beat I like, the lyrics jump on the paper themselves.

S. Deniro on his creative process

.

What artist(s) would you like to collaborate with?

Right now, I’m looking to record with Jadakiss, Dave East, Fabolous, and Lil Wayne.

What is one message you would give to your supporters?

My number one message to my supporters is never stop where your started. Keep in moving to your destination. But most of all Thank You!

What is the most talent/skill you have that most people don’t know about?

Basketball. I was captain/MVP of the my High School team. It was actually my first love. I played for many teams and in many tournaments throughout the city. I came home from being locked up in 2008, and signed up for college. Went to try out for the NBA D-League. I dropped out of college after a year and made the first cut. Never made the team.

IN CLOSING

What would you be doing right now, if you weren’t doing music?

Probably looking for a 9-5 or running the streets for make ends meet.

Who are some artists/people you admire and why?

Styles P, 50 cent, Jay-z, Lil Wayne, and Kanye West. Styles has impeccable lyricism and respectable code of ethics I identify with. 50 is just ruthless man (laughs). In his work ethic and his persona and that too is something I can identify with as well. Jay-Z’s entrepreneurship is just out of this world and I would want nothing more to be just as successful as he is.

Lil Wayne has got to be one of the most witty lyricists in the game and just seems to have no limits in his creativity. The same goes for Kanye. Along with having no limits to his creativity, he’s limitless in standing his ground.

What is the best advice you’ve been given?

Love yourself, be yourself.

If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

The misconception of artists being idolized because of their assists, appearance, or wealth. Rather than their actual art form, personality, and achievements because of it.

STAY CONNECTED WITH S. DENIRO

What’s next for you, where would you like to see yourself in the next year?

Right now I’m pushing this single with me and “The Ghost” Styles P called “Straight Like That” produced by Vinny Idol, which is out now in all stores and platforms. Check out the video on my YouTube channel. You can definitely expect more music and visuals coming from me. Stay tuned for the coming of my solely owned and independent label, “MFI Music & Entertainment Group”

What is your social media? How can people get in contact with you?

On social media you can follow me on Twitter, @SDeniroMenace. On Instagram @S.Deniro. And make sure you follow my label @MFI.MusicandEntertainment. For any business inquiries you can email MFIMusicandEntGroup@gmail.com

Santa Sallet is Putting On For The DMV

#GetSOM via @djspins

Recently I got the chance to chop it up with SANTA SALLET to get to know the upcoming DMV recording artist and speak on what he has going on currently.

DJ SPINS: What is your Stage Name? Please tell us where you’re from and what first got you interested in the entertainment industry?

Santa Sallet: My name is Santa Sallet and I was born a champion in Roseau, Dominica. I currently rep the DMV. I love cartoons and I excelled at poetry at a young. One day I came home and I saw Busta Rhymes’ video Gimme Some More and the rest is history.

DJ: Who and/or what inspires you to create?

SS: I see rap kind of like martial arts. I enjoy the sport of rapping and I want to continue sharpening my sword and my skills. The way I can do that is to rap with the best. To do that, I need to be part of the best of them.

DJ: How would you describe your sound?

SS: Classic. I bring a lot of classic 90s rap sounds with a modern flair. My rap style is really a child of New York/East Coast rap.

DJ: What is your creative process like?

SS: I am always freestyle. I am forever freestyling. I will hear a beat that’s so dope once it comes on that I can’t stop freestyling to it. The only way I can stop is to conquer the beat by writing a song to it. Then I can find peace once more.

DJ: What artist(s) would you like to collaborate with?

SS: Busta Rhymes, obviously, but also Schoolboy Q, ASAP Mob, Tyler the Creator, Dave East, Maxo Kream, Baby Keem, Kendrick Lamar, and the legends like Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z.

DJ: If you could open a show for any artist who would it be?

SS: Schoolboy Q or Tyler the Creator right now would be dope.

DJ: What is one message you would give to your supporters?

SS: Think and grow rich. What you think, say and do is what you will become.

DJ: What is the most useless talent you have?

SS: Juggling and completing Rubik’s Cubes really fast are pretty useless talents.

DJ: What would you be doing right now, if you weren’t doing music?

SS: The same thing I do every day. Try to take over the world. Being a rapper is just the start. I am an entrepreneur and rapping is just one of my business ventures. So I guess I’d still be making money.

DJ: Who are some artists you admire and why?

SS: I admire Kanye West. He was one of the first artists known for both their production and ability to rap. I wanted to emulate that and produce my own rap albums. In addition to Kanye West, I also admire other billionaire rappers such as Jay-Z and Dr Dre (Not quite…but you get the idea). I too would like to be a billionaire rapper. Finally, I admire Will Smith. What an amazing career. He’s also one of my early rap influences. He has a phenomenal career as a CLEAN rapper and actor. I too would like to rapper/actor.

DJ: What is the best advice you’ve been given?

SS: Be original. I was lucky enough met DJ Jazzy Jeff for the release of his album “The Magnificent” during a family vacation in Cape Town, South Africa. I bought his record and lined up for a signature. When I got to the front I asked him if you had one piece of advice for an aspiring rapper, what would it be? He thought about it and replied, “Just be original. No matter what you do or what anybody says just be original. Be yourself. Be original.” As a huge Fresh Prince fan, I remember being SUPER nervous at the time and like walking away when he started talking, but he stopped me because he really wanted to make sure I heard what he was saying. I now approach my rap career with these words in mind.

DJ: If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

SS: I wish it was easier to use other people works to create derivative works. Like I get its copyrighted and you need to be compensated. I don’t get why you are allowed to say no. Let’s make sampling easier. I guess you could disagree with the message your music is being used for, but that’s art. I think it’s meant to be free to grow and evolve. They say you have two deaths: The first is when you die. The second is the last time someone says your name. I want to live forever, baby. Use my music.

DJ: What’s next for you, where would you like to see yourself in the next year?

SS: I want to go on tour. I will be dropping my official mixtape early next year. Be on the lookout for Plutography. I want everybody to hear it. I plan to rap all over the world.

DJ: What is your social media? How can people get in contact with you?

SS: You can find me on everything @SantaSallet. You will find me hanging out on Instagram the most. If you want to get in touch head over to my website at www.SantaSallet.com and fill out the contact form. Otherwise, don’t be weird and just drop me a message on any of my socials.
